Overview
Intelligent Waves, a rapidly growing Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Fed/DoD Contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the needs of a rapidly growing company. This position is an integral member of the IW Accounting team will be responsible for various accounting and general ledger activities including reconciliations, preparation of entries, and support to the month-end close. Position is based in Reston, VA. Temporary remote work arrangments during the pandemic.
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Prepares monthly standard and recurring journal entries including but not limited to cash, due to/from, prepaid expenses, depreciation, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, deferred rent and deferred revenue
- Maintains fixed assets and related depreciation schedules including roll forwards and reconciliations
- Prepares timely bank, general ledger, and credit card reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting
- Prepares and reconciles intercompany transactions and consolidations
- Prepares account analysis of various accounts, investigates any discrepancies, and makes appropriate adjustments as required
- Assists with the month-end financial reporting and variance analysis
- Reviews and audits employee travel expenses
- Assists with various tax requirements, including personal property, sales/use, gross receipts, franchise, and other business tax filings
- Provides guidance and training to team members and staff from all departments
- Collaborates with other finance staff and other departments on special projects
- Identifies control weaknesses, communicates to management, and participates in making remedial changes to tighten and enhance controls
- Supports various internal and external audits
- Assists in annual budgeting and forecasting
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or relevant years of experience
- Minimum of five years of related experience in Government Contracting environment
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, FAR and CAS required
- Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Exceptional work ethic with a high degree of confidentiality; along with commitment to high data integrity and data privacy practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to define problems, collect data to establish facts, draw valid conclusion and report on findings for resolution
- Strong written & verbal communication skills, ability to lead meetings. Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Proficient in PC skills including Word, Outlook
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (vlookup, IF, pivot, etc.)
- Experience with UNANET and Concur a plus
