Founded over 145 years ago, our federal government client is seeking a candidate for the position of Records Management Specialist, to embark on long- term contract in Washington, DC.

Basic Function
The Records Management Specialist will be responsible for providing adequate coverage to maintain a wide variety of employee vital records that include retiree, office personnel, employee performance, and payroll files and records for our client’s headquarters office. The Records Management Specialist will ensure adequate coverage to carry out daily maintenance, tracking, filing, and access to financial management documents and files and duties related to accounting entries and transactions in an organized and efficient manner. The Records Management Specialist will also carry out special projects concerning records maintenance as needed. The Records Management Specialist shall also provide technical and clerical support for human resources; prepare standards, instructions, and guidance for all tasks.
• Principle Duties and Responsibilities
o File, interfile, maintain, store, retrieve, and audit official personnel folders (OPF) in compliance with regulatory compliance checklist
o Periodically review, update and remove various documents from OPF and OPF related HR files in accordance with OPF Guide to personnel records.
o Prepare, purge and send OPF’s for distribution to the Federal Records Center.
o Respond to requests for release of information such as verification of employment, and federal agency investigators by working with HR Specialist.
o Prepare and distributes reports using an HRIS.
o Schedule OPF review appointments

Requirements
Education

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Skills
• Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to function in a multi-task environment, as part of a project team and/or individually.
• Must have integrity and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues involving all internal and external customers.
• Must possess superior communication skills (both written and oral), and strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly competent using Microsoft Office applications including MS Word and Excel.

Experience
• At least 2 years of experience related to records management/ maintenance within a federal agency environment.****
• Project Management experience is a plus.
